This is my entry that won the first place at CGCoach’s “Creatures and Critters” sculpting contest. It’s called “Kentor”.

A Kentor is a species of centaur living in temperate grasslands and woods. This is a very peaceful herbivorous critter that usually lives in small herds of half a dozen to a dozen. This one is an alpha male. His staff is never used as a weapon, but rather helps him to reach fruits in the trees, or water when he attached his drinking horn at the tip of it.

On a remote Japanese island, Lord Quentin Wilson, a biochemist and entomologist born into a British aristocratic family, stumbled upon a rare and then yet undiscovered hornet species, the Vespa Mortis. Analysing and learning from those astounding and exceptional insects, he used all his newly found knowledge to built a suit so that he'd become Captain Hornet - a man fighting against the evil doings of the highly secretive WB Association, a criminal organisation generating revenues from the poaching and selling of protected animal species, with a grudge against the British royal family dating back to the Black Act of 1723.

This is my entry of Dominance War 3 that managed to win the third place of the 3D category.
The mermaid, fish and harpoon have a total budget of 9000 triangles and share a 2048 texture map (diffuse, normal, specular, emissive and transparency).
The Normal map was baked with 3DSMax, using the High res model made in ZBrush3. The base colors for the diffuse map were made in Zbrush then refined in Photoshop. I then used a simple 3 spots lightning and the default Max renderer.
I hope you like it and your comments are very welcome!
